Located only minutes from I-81in the countryside of Marion, Virginia, Fox Meadow Stables at Golden J Ranch offers equine activities and farm experiences for all ages.

Horse Club

Join our Horse Club for ages 6 and up. 

We meet each Monday from 4-6. 

Registration is required. 

Monthly cost is $100 per month for 4 club meetings. Full monthly payment is due two days before the first club of each month. Refunds will only be given if Fox Meadow Stables needs to cancel the club for any reason. 

Max weight limit is 220 lbs. 

Beginning Riding Lessons 

Want to learn the basics of riding? Sign up for beginner, intermediate, or advanced western riding lessons with Jaden, Jamie, or Amanda.

Barrel racing lessons are also available upon request. 

Lessons are open to all ages! 

Max weight limit is 220 lbs.

Cost is $45 per each hour lesson.

At least two lessons per month required. Payment is due upon booking. 72 hour notice is needed to reschedule to a later date. 

If Fox Meadow Stables contacts you due to weather or an emergency, your lesson will be rescheduled to a later date but is nonrefundable.

Trail Rides 

We host trail rides with advanced reservations required.

You will enjoy riding through the meadows of our 50-acre farm while observing the nature that surrounds. The rides are for ages 8 and up. Riders must wear closed toe shoes and helmets will be provided. 

Trail ride cost is $60 per person. 

Not up for a trail ride? We also offer pony rides for kids ages 8 and under and horseback rides in our arena for ages 8 to adults. The cost is $45 per person, and the ride is 30 minutes long.

Max weight limit is 220 lbs. 

Nonrefundable 50% deposit required at booking for trail and arena rides. 

Refunds will be given only if Fox Meadow Stables needs to cancel for any reason.

 

Farm Experience

Come and enjoy a farm experience where you can meet, feed, and brush all the animals, which includes ponies, horses, pigs, goats, bunnies, and more. The cost is $45 per person and lasts one hour. 

Nonrefundable 50% deposit required at booking. If Fox Meadow Stables contacts you to cancel, your deposit is refundable. 

 

Frequently Asked Questions

What levels of riding lessons do you offer?

We offer beginning, intermediate, and advance riding lessons for all ages. Barrel Racing lessons are available upon request.

What does your horse and pony club include?

Kids will fall in love with our ponies and horses as they brush, pet, feed, and ride them! 

What field trips do you offer?

Your class can participate in one of our field trips tailored to your wants and needs. We focus on the SOLs your students are studying. Sample educational areas include horsemanship, farm animals, nature adventures, habitats, and much more. Your students will be talking about their experiences for weeks to come. The cost is $15 per student. Teachers and chaperones are always free! 

How long are your trail rides and how much do they cost?

Each trail ride lasts a total of one hour, which includes being matched with your horse and getting your new equine friend ready for the ride. You will enjoy beautiful views as your trail-riding guide leads the way. Advanced reservations are required. This activity is for ages 8 and up, and closed-toe shoes are required. There is a maximum of five riders per trail riding adventure. Trail ride prices: $60 per person. 50% nonrefundable deposit is due at time of booking. Deposit refunds will only be given if Fox Meadow Stables needs to cancel for any reason. Max weight is 250 lbs.
